The city itself is most famous for its memorable landmark, Table Mountain. A short cable car ride takes you to the summit over 1000 metres above sea level. The views of the city and surrounds are spectacular. Robben Island, just off the coast of Cape Town is best known as Nelson Mandela’s prison for two decades. The island can be reached by ferry. Touring the Cape Peninsula offers dramatic views of one of South Africa’s most scenic and popular attractions. A visit to Hout Bay boat trips is to Seal Island is recommended. Further South at Cape Point there are spectacular views of False Bay and this is where some would argue the “two oceans meet”.

We often visit Boulders Beach, which is the breeding ground of the African Jackass Penguin, the only penguin species found on the continent of Africa. Visitors can also travel inland to experience the grandeur of the Cape winelands. Acres of vineyards and shady oaks set against a mountainous backdrop offer great photo opportunities. Wine tasting and cheese sampling is enjoyed at the most beautiful Cape Dutch estates.

Lastly, no trip to Cape Town is complete without a visit to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and harbour. A blend of the “olde world” and the new, the V&A Waterfront has become one of South Africa’s premier attractions. The Waterfront is a bustling but scenic retreat from the clamour of the city. To the north we have Langebaan, Lamberts Bay, Bushman’s Kloof and the Cedarberg. To the east we have the beautiful “Garden Route”.
