The 11 Day Jacana Safari- Northern Botswana & Victoria Falls
“4/5 Paws”
The Jacana Safari is the highest quality “camping” safari in Botswana.
This safari was featured in National Geographic’s “Traveler”
magazine in November 1995, and it has undergone many improvements since that time.
The safari offers a combination of cross-country drives and light aircraft transfers
to access the best areas of northern Botswana. Accommodation consists of a pre-erect3ed
tented camp in the Chobe River area, and small permanent tented camps in the Okgavango
Delta and Linyanti that are booked exclusively for our groups. A unique feature
of this safari is that many nights are spent in private concessions far from the
public in superb game country where night drives and off-road driving are permitted.
All meals are included except for lunch and dinner in Victoria Falls. Local drinks
are included in Botswana. Guests are limited to eight and a guide accompanies
the safari.
Days 1 to 3: Okavango Delta – Kaparota Camp
After arriving in Maun, you are transferred by light aircraft to the northern
sector of the Okavango Delta. There is excellent game viewing here that contributes
to a memorable Okavango experience.
Days 4 to 5: Okavango Delta – Jacana Camp
The group is flown to the central Okavango to Jacana Camp for two nights. Jacana
is a true water camp, offering mokoros and walking all year round, as well as
game drives if water levels are low.
Day 6 & 7: The Linyanti- Linyanti Tented Camp
We leave the Okavango Delta by light aircraft for Linyanti Tented Camp. This is
a small intimate tented camp on the banks of the Linyanti marshes in a private
reserve, bordering on the western boundary of Chobe National Park. Game viewing
is by vehicle, boat, canoe and on foot.
Day 8 to 9: Chobe National Park
We fly north-east to Chobe and camp on or near the banks of the Chobe River. Here
one can view Elephants in huge numbers, while plains game and birds like herons,
ducks and storks occur in profusion.
Day 10: Victoria Falls
It is a leisurely drive from the Chobe River to Victoria Falls. Arrival at Ilala
Lodge will be around midday and you will have the rest of your afternoon at leisure
to explore the rain forests alongside the Falls or to enjoy an optional sunset
cruise up the Zambezi River. Guests can elect to stay in Zambia at The River Club
but at extra cost.
Day 11: End of Safari
You are transferred to the Victoria Falls Airport for your onward flight, or
you can elect to spend more time in Victoria Falls.
