Kulala Desert Lodge—Sossusvlei

Situated on over 46,000 acres of private reserve and bordering the Namib-Naukluft Park, Kulala Desert Lodge and Little Kulala lie in the heart of the Namib. Both camps offer magnificent views of the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei. Kulala Desert Lodge has twelve thatched and canvas chalets with en suite bathrooms and showers. Each room is built on a wooden platform to provide maximum airflow. Mattresses can be placed on a private stargazing platform on top of each room for sleeping under the starts – a popular option with outdoor enthusiasts. The main lodge has a lounge, bar, dining area, and plunge pool. The verandah overlooks a waterhole.

We offer early morning guided game drives to the spectacular dunes. Game drives and walks are offered on the private reserve for the Namib scenery, desert wildlife and smaller desert-adapted fauna and flora. Spotlit night drives area a highlight. Early morning ballooning is another option offered, weather permitting. An optional 60 minute ballooning safari offers a truly unique experience, soaring silently above the magnificent desert sand dunes and ending off with a champagne breakfast.
