This is the
finest scheduled departure cross-country camping safari in Zimbabwe. We have
a high staff to guest ratio and take a maximum of eight guests. The safari visits
all the best reserves along the Zambezi Valley. Activities and modes of transport
are varied and stimulating and include Land Rovers, aircraft, boats, canoes,
and your own two feet. All meals are included, except for lunch and dinner at
Victoria Falls.
Days
1: Victoria Falls
On arrival at Victoria Falls, you are met and transferred to the Ilala Lodge.
You have the afternoon to explore the Falls or take an optional sunset cruise
on the Zambezi River. In the evening, your guide will meet with the group at Ilala
Lodge at 6:30 pm for a pre-safari briefing.
Days
2 to 3: Hwange National Park
We travel south to Hwange National Park. Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife sanctuary.
We spend our time game viewing and birding on nature drives, at waterholes and
on walks in the Makalolo area. We should see Elephant, Buffalo, Sable, Antelope,
Cheetah, Lion, Leopard, and Wild Dog. We stay at our tented camp within Hwange
National Park.
Day
4 to 5: Matusadona National Park—Lake Kariba
Today we fly to Matusadona National Park on the shores of Lake Kariba. We stay
here for two nights, spending time on drives and walks, viewing large concentrations
of Buffalo, Elephant and and the wildlife of the park. Our best opportunities
for viewing Black Rhino exist here.
Day 9: Chikwenya Camp
We canoe from our camp in Mana Pools to Chikwenya Camp for our final night. It’s
a wonderful camp to end off a great safari.
Day 10: End of Safari
After breakfast you are flown back to Kariba Airport by midday to connect with
your onward flight.
