This customized safari has daily departures with the itinerary covering many of South Africa’s wildlife and cultural highlights. The world-famous Kruger National Park and
surrounding private game reserves combine superbly with the best of KwaZulu
Natal’s reserves to create a highlight of South African wildlife experiences.
Days 1 and 2: The Kruger Park and the private game reserves
Guests are transferred from either Eastgate or Primkop Airports in Mpumalanga
Province for one o fhte private game reserves next to or within Kruger National
Park. The private lodges you can choose from include, amongst others: Mala Mala,
Kirkman’s Kamp, Harry’s Huts, Londolozi, Singita, Sabi Sabi, Leopard
Hills, Simbambili, Djuma, Ngala, Kings Camp, Tanda Tula, or Thornybush. The
lodges take pride in their “Big 5” sightings on private land in
open 4x4s.
Days 3 and 4: Ndumo Game ReserveKwaZulu Natal
After an early morning game drive, guests are transferred by Sfofane Air to
Ndumo Wilderness Camp, about an hour’s flight southwards. This park in
northern Zululand contrats markedly with the Kruger area in terms of scenery,
wildlife (especially black Rhino) and vegetation, and is famous for its superb
birding.
Day 5, 6, and 7: The Greater St Lucia Wetland ParkRocktail Bay Lodge
Today you are transferred to the Maputaland Coastal Forest Reserve and to Rocktail
Bay Lodge. This, too, is a great contrast to the other parks visited. With about
40km of undeveloped coastline, Rocktail is possibly Southern Africa’s
best-kept secret and offers incredible walks, snorkeling and world-class SCUBA
diving. Leatherback and Loggerhead Turtle watching takes place from mid October
to mid March.
Day 8: Safari Ends
You depart Rocktail Bay with Sefofane Air or by road for Richards Bay to connect
with your onward flight. Recommended add-ons include Phinda Game Reserve, or chartering
directly to the KwaZulu Natal Battlefields. Our favourite area is the Isandlwana
and Rorke’s Drift. Visiting the battlefields is one of the highlights of
any South African itinerary, enabling guests to experience enthralling Zulu and
Anglo/Boer history and culture. Cape Town and the Cape are also popular add on
destinations.
